About Me

I am excited to be involved at Grace Lutheran School as a teacher. I have held many positions here over the years, starting with being a parent of Grace students, then Junior Great Books leader, enrichment teacher, teacher aide for several grades, breakfast supervisor, librarian, substitute teacher, and math teacher. In each of these roles I have enjoyed getting to know the children and their families.

I wanted to be a math teacher ever since I was a young girl playing school with my younger sister and brother. I enjoyed making arithmetic worksheets for them to do! I helped my classmates with math in both junior and senior high school. At Concordia College in Moorhead I studied math, physics, and education. I taught physics and grades 9-12 math in Grafton, ND for several years. After moving back to Fargo, I taught various math and physics classes at Concordia College. I've also taught hands-on physics classes for elementary and secondary teachers across the state of ND. Now I am back to teaching students about math!

My husband teaches in the computer science department at MSUM. Our daughter has a Master's Degree in Education. One of our sons graduated from NDSU and is now a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. He is presently serving our country in Germany. Our younger son spent the summer as an intern with the MN DNR and is a junior in biology at MSUM.

I have taught all ages (2 through adult) of students in Sunday School and now enjoy leading an adult class with my husband. Teaching VBS every summer is also a tradition, as is attending Camp Wilderness (Boy Scouts of America) each summer for a week when my husband is chaplain there.

When I have spare time I can usually be found reading a book. I like just about every genre. Students have "accused" me of having about a hundred favorite books. They might be right!
